Let's talk about marriage, it's importance in our lives and what changes in this area we should expect. But before I want you ask just two simple questions.
The first one is if you know what is the construction of the Greek Temple, for example? If not, I'll explain. To put it in the simple words this is a set of columns with roof that is laying on them. These columns hold whole construction. If you remove all of them or just few the whole temple will collapse.
The human society could be viewed as the temple, and the marriage as the one main column. What will happens if we eliminate the marriage from our lives? Obviously, effect could be the same as if remove one of the columns from the temple construction - it will fall. Or, if we will be lucky, construction will stay but the price will be wrecked. The same could happens with our society, if we suddenly decide to throw out marriage from our lives. In worst case scenario this situation will leads our society to the anarchy, in best case we will suffer from the social riots.
Now is time for my second question. Why I asked you about what happens if to destroy the marriage as a form of social binding? The answer is simple. Now we reached the point of no return, when traditional form of marriage rapidly lose it's role and very soon will be vanished as an unnecessary traditional ritual. Ok, we can say, if it should happens anyway, why we need to worry? Unfortunately, it will not happens painless and without destructive influence on our lives. These changes could shake the whole basis of our society and become a cause of chain reaction which will lead to the catastrophic social troubles.
Marriage as we know this social institute now, was established so long ago so we can say that it is exist all times. Why we can say that? Because even at the moment of appearance of first human civilization such as Sumer and Ancient Egypt there a lot of evidence of marriage tradition. Here I can say more - for the last six thousands years the nature of marriage did not changed a much. In all historic epochs and among different nations the marriage hold the same idea and purposes. But the last one hundred years our views and our believes changed dramatically. As result it affects all aspects of our life including the definition and nature of marriage. And now we reach the point when we need to replace the traditional marriage with something that will be more appropriate to the conditions of the modern society. Or, at least, we need to rethink and modernize the whole idea of marriage.
For my opinion we need to remember what was the reason for establishing the whole marriage thing at the first place? Then we need to decide what is the purpose of the marriage and how this whole idea correlate with the modern social relations system? And finally we need estimate is changes that happened the last few decades corrupt whole idea of marriage and what expect more in the future. Only after that we can develop an ideas what to do.
